The baby will be 13 weeks along on Thursday! Our appointment went swimmingly on Friday. We heard the baby's heartbeat, which the doctor said is "strong, steady, and perfect". Awesome! The appointment was made a little more interesting (and funny) by a super socially awkward med-student (my team of doctors is at Washington University so it's a teaching hospital) who suggested us naming the baby after him... no thank you... he ruined the name Adam for sure. haha.
I have gotten a lot of my energy back already, which is super awesome considering work is just crazy busy (just when I think it can't get any crazier is always does). It really seems to be true that second trimester is going to be a lot less full of symptoms. I am frequently burping, but that's no big deal. I definitely have my appetite back... food sounds good even in the morning!
There's definitely a baby bump! I was just feeling "thicker" before, but in the last week (especially the last few days) I've noticed a lot more roundness to my tummy and from the side you can definitely tell the shape. I will definitely be looking into a belly band this weekend as my dress pants don't really fit while sitting at my desk.
Our next appointment isn't for another 4 weeks and hopefully it will be uneventful again. Our ultrasound to find out the gender of the baby isn't until April... hopefully that will come quickly... I'm getting impatient to know!
Despite being super tired from traveling this weekend, it was totally worth it to see our families and some friends. Thanks to all who hosted us and spoiled us!
This is a simple blog to keep our family and friends updated on all of the events that are happening in our household.

10 weeks!!
The baby was 10 weeks along yesterday! Baby likes to make me feel nauseous in the morning (No actual throwing up though thankfully) and if I don't eat every 2-3 hours, makes me go to the bathroom more than I'm used to (which is interesting for when I go out in the community to visit multiple clients and have to learn where the nearest restaurant or store for the bathroom is), and makes me super tired and exhausted throughout the whole day. I've heard that you get some energy back in the second trimester so I'm definitely looking forward to that! Also, my clothes don't exactly fit like they used to... let's say I'm just a little "thicker". haha.
It's a lot of fun to get to tell people our good news... it makes the first trimester symptoms worth it for the fun reactions! I told a few people at work finally the other day. Prior to this, a few coworkers had sat me down saying that I had looked exhausted lately and that they were concerned about me... now they get it. I was pretty nervous about bringing this up at work as we recently lost 3 people from our team and gained two new people who are fresh out of undergrad and are in for an great awakening soon. Let's just say that there are a lot of transitions going on at work. I am now the only MA level clinician on two case management teams... so I have to be very careful to not overload myself and take care of myself and the baby for sure (I have a bunch of coworkers reminding me of this so that's helpful too).
With Josh and Amy Schultz's baby girl Claire just born (YAY!) it makes me more excited to be able to see what our baby will look like someday! Who's eyes and nose will the baby have?? Will the baby have blonde hair and blue eyes and look like me when I was little? It's crazy to think about.
Next doctor's appointment isn't until Feb.17th. We'll be able to leave from that appointment and drive up to Ft Wayne to visit friends, family, and be there for little Claire's baptism. I'm pretty sure that Garet is dying to be able to see and hold Claire, but he can speak for himself (that's just the idea I get from him).
